International Computer Science PhD Scholarship

The Computer Science PhD scholarship is tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD (via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress] and is open to international applicants only. UK/EU applicants are not eligible to apply. The scholarship will provide £15000 towards the cost of the International tuition fee over 3 years.
A Computer Science PhD variety of adsorbents such as carbon, hydrogels, clays, silca gels etc employed for the removal of radionuclides from aqueous solutions have been reported; but each has inherent limitations. The discovery of mesoporous materials with large surface area and wide uniform pores has provided a new dimension for the removal/recovery of radionuclides.
This Computer Science PhD project aims to develop new mesoporous silicates that have selectively for certain radionuclides or families of radionuclides. This will be achieved by engineering specific sites within the silicate structure during the preparative stage that can accommodate specific radionuclides whilst excluding others. This Computer Science PhD exclusion may be based on size and/or interactions with functional groups inserted into the lattice structure
