The School of Law has a long-standing reputation as one of the UK’s most distinguished centres of excellence for the study of law, legal processes and related issues. We have a thriving research school of 80 PhD and MPhil students, researching in Law, Criminology, Socio-Legal Studies, and Bioethics.
The School is currently able to offer up to 12 funding awards for excellent applicants:

UK/EU students:

• ESRC and AHRC studentships for well qualified UK and EU applicants – fees and stipend - deadlines 19 March (ESRC) and 15 March (AHRC). ESRC studentships are offered in the area of criminology or socio-legal studies, particularly youth gangs and delinquency, regulation, and violence.

International/UK/EU applicants:

• Law School scholarships – well-qualified applicants in any area of study - contribution to tuition fees - deadline 28 April
• Wellcome Trust studentships for study in the area of the School’s Centre for Social Ethics and Policy and prospective students of the structured PhD in Bioethics and Medical Jurisprudence – home/EU fees and stipend - details to follow
•Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) combining PhD study and teaching experience – home/EU fees and stipend – deadline 28 April
• Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs) combining PhD study and research assistance - home/EU fees and stipend - deadline 28 April
• Faculty of Humanities Overseas Research Scholarship – for an overseas candidate with exceptional academic merit and research potential - contribution to tuition fees - deadline 16 April
